Sponsoring is a way to help a specific animal in need when you might not be ready to adopt or be able to volunteer. 100% of any money collected for the dog listed below will go to directly supporting his/her care. Many animals come into the rescue with serious medical conditions, sponsors help us to defray the costs associated with that dog while waiting for a forever home. This is a wonderful way to help rescue!
Dog in the Spotlight: Louie
Louie is a very special little guy with a very big problem: He has a hole in his heart.
Louie is a 7 year old lhasa apso who spent his life in a small kennel functioning as a breeder dog. Due to the downturn in the economy, the person using him as a breeder downsized and wanted to rid themselves of him - that's how he came into rescue.
Louie is currently being fostered and is no longer in danger, or so we thought. When he was taken to the vet for an exam and to be neutered, it was found he had a heart murmur and an actual hole in his heart. This appears to be a congenital defect. This must be addressed prior to any other procedures, including neutering.
The next step for Louie is a trip to the doggie cardiologist. His appointment is scheduled for Jan 2011. A medical plan for Louie will be developed based on the outcome of this appointment.
Louie is a tough little guy who has been through so much, before he's even had a chance to be someone's companion. Please consider sponsoring Louie, as a small non-profit we rely completely on volunteers and donations and EVERY CENT COUNTS. 100% of any money donatedwill go to the care of Louie.
